An innovative and fast-growing technology company, PayPoint supports over 28,000 retailers across the UK with the technology needed to run a modern convenience business. Offering everything from EPOS to card payments, cash withdrawals to bill payments, and parcel sending, PayPoint One is a complete solution.
Working with market-leading network, Collect+, PayPoint saw an opportunity to grow its parcel-sending service beyond retailer returns and parcel pickups. Having relied on its in-store receipt printer and manually fixing printed courier information to packages, they needed a labelling solution that would support the scaling of this service.
Helping PayPoint to choose the right printer for the job, the Zebra ZD230d was selected thanks to its competitive price, reliability and ease of management. Working with PayPoint’s experienced development team, we supported the integration of the PayPoint One software with the printer, adding value through our deep understanding of the Zebra product.
Presenting a good image to customers and in-store brand recognition is highly important to PayPoint. Noticing that its existing barcode scanners were branded, we suggested branding the printers too – a service that we were able to fulfil.
Fast-moving, PayPoint set an objective to get the first 3,000 stores live before Christmas. An ambitious goal to meet, even a straightforward deployment at such a scale and with short notice can be difficult to get right.
Taking receipt of mobile devices sourced directly by PayPoint, we took care of the full kitting process ensuring that each store would receive a kit that included a device, a pre-configured branded printer that connected with PayPoint’s software out of the box and two rolls of labels.
While independent retailers installed the solution themselves, an engineer was organised by PayPoint to take care of installation across customers with multiple stores. Aligned with the engineers, we ensured that the kit arrived on the right day ready for set up.
In the first year, we rolled out the solution across 7,000 stores, working hand in hand with PayPoint to meet their pace and provide great flexibility to support them in achieving their objectives.
Experiencing substantial growth, the usage of the PayPoint solution has far exceeded their predictions at a time when lead times for consumables have dramatically increased. Supplying consumables to meet this demand, we have worked closely with them to ensure they have the right labels available at the right time, stocking consumables on their behalf and providing a reliable supply chain while maintaining a competitive price.
PayPoint has a team of engineers who, with the addition of new hardware, needed training in how to repair the printers. With such a large estate it’s inevitable that some will break over time. Readying the team, we taught them how to carry out a series of repairs and we will be on hand to support anything that is beyond their capabilities.
PayPoint’s parcel-sending solution has since been rolled out to thousands of retailers with our support. We continue to work together closely, providing a flexible deployment service matched to the pace and needs of the business. Building trust between our teams, we’re proud to be a technical sounding board for PayPoint, able to assist them in pushing forward fresh ideas that comes to the surface.
